Night Shift RN

Position Summary:

The Registered Staff Nurse is a professional registered nurse who works under the supervision of the D.O.N to provide quality care that is focused on the comfort and well-being of the patient and family.

This position requires a customer service-oriented individual with strong interpersonal skills for the purpose of supporting delivery of care and services to patients from diverse ethnic and social groups. Independent decision making is expected in the execution of daily routine duties. Must be able to delegate patient care assignments and duties based on the ability of co-workers. Must strive to maintain the professional standards of nursing which include utilizing the theoretical framework of the nursing process and critical thinking to assess, plan, provide, delegate, supervise, manage and evaluate patient care.

Qualifications:

  1. He/she must be a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing, have proof of maintenance of current licensure in the state of Kansas.
  2. Have current certification of CPR/Basic Life Support. There may be additional certifications necessary.
  3. Knowledge of the normal signs of aging and ability to provide age-appropriate care.
  4. Must have the ability to tolerate standing, kneeling, stooping, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling and heavy lifting 60-100% of the time.
  5. Demonstrates interpersonal relationships in a manner which enhances communication, promotes conflict resolution and facilities staff development.
  6. Computer keyboard and basic operating knowledge is required.
  7. Knowledge of communication skills with ability to listen both verbally and non-verbally.
  8. Skill in interpersonal relationships with emphasis on caring, reaching out, being friendly and showing courtesy.
  9. Skill in time management with the ability to work independently, take initiative and problem solve.
  10. Skill in interpersonal, oral, and written communications.
  11. Ability to be sensitive and show positive regard for fellow employees, patients and families.
  12. Ability to take direction, work efficiently under pressure, set priorities, attend to detail and use good judgment.

No formal training is required for the job, but experience in hospital or institutional cooking setting is preferred.

Job duties are:

· Cooking and baking

· Assists additional cook and dietary manager in kitchen

· Determines quantities of food to be prepared

· Works with schedule so that food will be ready at specified times.

· Prepares food servings, and assists in preparing trays for patients and staff.

· Soaks and washes dishes

· Cleans and maintains dining area

· Disposes of trash and garbage

Physical Demands:

The employee will mostly be standing. He/she will also use cutting utensils and powered appliances with some lifting and carrying required.

Maintenance Assistant

Mercy Hospital is seeking a self-motivated maintenance assistant.  The ideal candidate will have skills in general maintenance, repair work on buildings, grounds, plumbing, HVAC and utility systems.

 

Responsibilities:
  • Perform maintenance and repairs to facilities and grounds.
  • Assist with receiving, unpacking and distributing all freight that arrives at the hospital.
  • Assist with painting, plumbing, electrical work and HVAC repairs.
  • Season work can include mowing, trimming shrubbery, sweeping walks and shoveling snow.
  • Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in mechanical trouble shooting and basic electrical knowledge.
Physical demands:
  • Standing with stooping and bending
  • Lifting heavy leads (exceeding 50 lbs.) or other physically strenuous tasks.
Hours:
  • Flexible 40-hour work week
  • Some on-call coverage
Work Environment:
  • The noise level is moderate to loud, and at times includes tasks which may be dirty and/or greasy.

HOUSEKEEPER

A. Position Summary:

· Cleans and disinfects sections of the hospital.

B. Qualifications:

· No formal experience is required for this job, but must have demonstrated ability in accepting direction and working well with others.

C. Responsibilities:

· The Housekeeper cleans his/her assigned areas by washing furnishings, floors, and equipment with special cleaning solutions and disinfectants to prevent the spread of disease.

· Duties include but are not limited to:

1) Using wipes, and vacuum cleaners to clean window sills, floors, and furniture;

2) emptying waste baskets, arranging furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion;

3) scouring and polishing sinks, tubs, mirrors

· Replenishing supplies of soap and paper towels and filling hand sanitizers as needed.

· Emptying sharps containers when needed.

· Reporting any mechanical failures of negative conditions as observed in assigned area.

D. Physical Demands:

· The employee will mostly be standing with stooping and bending as required per task.

E. Work Environment:

· The noise level is moderate.
